High School Students Invited to "College Connections"
Sunday September 12, 2010
education
Representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities, and financial and educational advisors from across the nation will meet with Northeastern Oklahoma high school students and their parents Sept.12, 2010 from 1-4pm for Tulsa's 24th annual College Connection. This is a no-cost opportunity for area high school students to learn about all aspects of college life. Representatives from each school will be on site to answer prospective students' questions. Literature to take home will be available at each college's display.

The College Connection is an annual not-for-profit effort of the Edison Preparatory School PTSA to better enable Northeastern Oklahoma high school students to make the best possible personal decision in seeking affordable, high-quality post-secondary educational opportunities.

The event will be held at the Central Park Hall at Expo Square Fairgrounds and is free to students and their families. For more information, visit www.tulsacollegeconnection.com . Courtesy of the Skiatook Journal

Hominy JOM Invited to Hand Game
Saturday September 18, 2010
education
The Native Nations Youth Council (NNYC) of Tulsa invited the Hominy Johnson O'Malley (JOM) students to an afternoon of hand games to be held at the Eugene Field Elementary School on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The Eugene Field School is located in Tulsa at 2249 S. Phoenix Avenue. The event will begin at 2pm and will run until approximately 5pm. Dinner will be served. All are welcome to enjoy a day of fun and games!

This is the second time the NNYC challenged the Hominy JOM to a day of hand games. Hominy JOM won the first event, also held in Tulsa, this past May when they traveled down as a large group to meet with the NNYC, sponsored by the Indian Health Resource Center (IHCRC). Tim Shadlow, Youth Program Coordinator for the IHCRC, said, "We are better prepared this time and hope to win more than the pop-drinking contest".
