New Partner for Make It Your Business 5K Run, Osage Nation Counseling Center will sponsor cash prizes for winners under 18 years.
Join us on Saturday, May 15, 2010 as we kickoff our first running, biking and walking activities of the season for the health of all our community members. We are beginning with a 5K around beautiful Lake Pawhuska. You will enjoy the friendly people of our area, the wonderful view of nature and beautiful scenery.   The purpose of the event is to promote the benefits that are received through the physical fitness, well-being, and healthy vitality of running and/or walking. Several of the sponsors of the committee to better the citizens of our area have partnered together to promote this event and have been joined by organizations of outlying cities and towns. The Make It Your Business – For A Strong And Healthy Osage Nation committee is promoting this event as an activity for the awareness of participants that this is healthy and a positive way to promote physical fitness. Also, May is Asthma Awareness Month. The event will serve to promote the benefits that a hobby such as walking or running can be to those who suffer from asthma. Come be a part of team as we organize other events for the Health Of It! Race begins promptly at 8 a.m. with registration from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
The 2010 5K Cross-Country Run/Walk
Our run/walk will take us from the east side parking lot, across spillway , through west side parking lot, through cattle fence circling Lake Pawhuska through some gorgeous scenery bringing you back to west side parking lot. Race is chip timed and we have a 1 mile fun run/walk scheduled to begin at 8:30. We will follow up with medal ceremony when last runner finishes course.

Anyone under the age of 18 is welcome and we encourage them to participate in Run For The Health Of It as long as they have signed parental consent. In fact it was a 14 year old young man from Bartlesville who won the overall 5K in Nov. 2008. We have a generous sponsor for the youth with medals and gift card of $50 for 1st, $40 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd. This is both girls and boys with age categories of 12 and under and 13 to 18.

Spotters  will be set up along the route. These stops will be stocked with water, some fruit and first-aid as needed. The stops will be manned by volunteers and will assist you as needed. Fruit, water and energy snacks will be available for all registered runners.
